Promising 19-year-old Welsh and Zimbabwean midfielder Dakarai Mafico is expected to leave temporarily. Barry-Murphy confirmed that another loan move is now likely. Barry-Murphy said that he thinks Mafico is one of the players who will probably go out on loan, but that he does not know where or when. The club are now expected to find Mafico a loan higher up the EFL pyramid than last season as they continue his development. The Wales U21 international, who joined Cardiff on 01/07/2025, made 12 appearances in the National League and one in League One during the 2025/2026 season.
