An emissary from Panathinaikos contacted 34-year-old Italian left-back Cristiano Biraghi during the week, as the Greek club sought an experienced player for the left side. With Biraghi's contract at Torino set to expire on June 30th, Panathinaikos was prepared to offer a symbolic compensation to the club for a low-cost transfer and proposed a two-year contract to the player. However, Biraghi rejected the offer. The decision was due to strictly personal reasons, as he was not interested in another experience abroad ten years after his time in Spain with Granada. Biraghi thanked the Panathinaikos management and chose to continue his career at Torino, convinced he can still play an important role there. The defender, who has 16 caps and one goal for Italy, transferred to Torino from Fiorentina in July 2025 for a reported fee of €100,000. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €900k.
