Conor Chaplin, who was on loan at Portsmouth for the entire campaign, is nearing the end of his contract. The club has an option to activate a 12-month extension. However, there is a possibility that the Blues may allow Chaplin to leave without a transfer fee in order to maximise his signing-on fee and wages at another club, similar to the situation with Sam Morsy last summer.
