Gençlerbirliği, a Turkish Super Lig club, has advanced its interest in Hellas Verona midfielder Cheikh Niasse, 26, moving ahead of other interested parties which included Konyaspor and Al Jazira. The Turkish side has overtaken competitors for the former Young Boys player in the last few hours. The deal could be concluded today, with the Senegalese international ready to travel to Turkey to complete his medical and sign a contract. Niasse, who has one cap for Senegal, joined Hellas Verona in July 2025 for a fee that was reported to be €3.5 million and his contract with the Italian club runs until 2029. In June 2026, Hellas Verona's asking price for the player was reportedly €10 million. According to Transfermarkt, his current valuation is €2.00m.
