Chelsea are still seeking to sign a new defender after a previous enquiry for Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk was rejected last year. The Blues are interested in Toulouse’s 23-year-old English centre-back Charlie Cresswell, as well as Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi. Cresswell, who has 26 caps for England U21, has 3 goals and 1 assist in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season. Several other clubs have been linked with the defender, including VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund, and West Ham United. In January 2026, VfL Wolfsburg reportedly submitted an €18 million offer, while Toulouse's asking price was said to be around €25 million in December 2025.
