Carlos Coronel Transfer from New York RB to São Paulo
Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, who was without a club, has been signed by São Paulo for a two-year period. 'UOL' had published that São Paulo was interested in the player, and 'ge' confirmed the signing.
São Paulo has reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, who plays for the Paraguayan national team, from the New York Red Bulls. The 28-year-old's contract with the American club is set to expire on December 31. He will sign a permanent deal with the Brazilian side after a meeting on Wednesday finalized the transfer. Coronel is joining to be an alternative for Rafael and will move on a free transfer, with the costs limited to his salary and a signing-on bonus. The player had received financially more attractive offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the MLS, but the project presented by São Paulo persuaded him to return to Brazil. A source stated that the player's desire to play for São Paulo was also a significant factor in his decision.
