Charlton Athletic are not expected to sign Swiss left-back Junior Ligue, who is instead joining Italian side Venezia. The London club was unable to secure the 20-year-old's signature despite making two offers to bring him to the club this month. It was believed that the London outfit was leading the effort to sign him, but the Serie B club made a superior offer. Charlton did not sign Ligue from Zurich this January after a permanent deal was agreed with Venezia. An agreement for €2.5 (£2.1) million has been made between the Swiss and Italian clubs. Ligue is a Switzerland U21 international with two caps, and he has a current market value of €3.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
