According to Team Talk, contract talks between Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United are in progress. The club is prepared to offer Fernandes more security beyond his current contract, with a deal that could potentially run until 2029 with an option for a further year. One possibility being discussed is a longer-term agreement that includes an appearance-based clause, where the contract's length could potentially increase automatically depending on his involvement. Manchester United are attempting to find an agreement that rewards Bruno Fernandes while also protecting themselves over the contract's latter years. The report adds there is no suggestion that the club is considering ending its association with the player.

According to TEAMtalk sources, discussions between Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes about a new contract are ongoing, but an agreement is not yet close, with the length of the deal being one of the key issues. The sources confirmed that United have told Fernandes of their plan to exercise the option on his existing contract, which would extend his terms beyond 2028. Fernandes wants to secure a significantly longer commitment from the club. United have indicated they are willing to consider an initial three-year contract with an option for at least a further year, but the representatives for Fernandes want more security. The financial aspect is also a factor, as a significant wage increase is part of the discussions.

Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been in talks with Manchester United for a new contract for just over three months, but no agreement has been reached. David Ornstein has reported that there is an impasse and no breakthrough in the negotiations. However, Fabrizio Romano stated that the talks are not off, collapsing, or over. Romano also explained that discussions started between the end of the last season and the 2026 World Cup, and have occurred monthly since then. According to Romano, several points still need to be clarified, which include salary and the length of the contract. Discussions also need to cover whether a release clause should be included in a new contract and what its terms would be. Under his current contract, an offer of £57 million ($77 million) could trigger a transfer if Fernandes agrees to it. From the perspective of Fernandes, it would seem fair to become the club's top earner, which would require an annual salary exceeding Marcus Rashford’s reported $22.8 million (£16.9 million). It is rumored that this may not be an issue because it is a relatively minor raise.
