Ben Whiteman made his debut for Wrexham during the club's 1-0 Carabao Cup first round defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday. The midfielder was brought on as a 72nd-minute substitute at the Riverside Stadium.

Pete O’Rourke reports that Ben Whiteman is scheduled to undergo his medical at Wrexham on Tuesday morning before finalising his move to the Welsh club.

Ben Whiteman is in talks with Wrexham over a move worth over a reported £2m, according to reports. The fee is around £2m for the player, who is approaching the final year of his contract. According to Transfermarkt, his deal expires in the summer of 2027. This was never formally announced by the club when he signed a 'long-term' deal in January 2024. Wrexham use a valuation model to avoid overspending on players.

Preston North End manager Paul Heckingbottom stated that 30-year-old English midfielder Ben Whiteman told him and CEO Peter that he has played his last game for the club and is trying to force a move. Heckingbottom said he hopes Wrexham or someone else will provide the money for Ben Whiteman. Heckingbottom mentioned there is a valuation on Ben Whiteman. Whiteman, who joined the club in January 2021, has a contract that runs until June 2027 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €2.00m. In addition to Wrexham, Watford have also been linked with a move for the player.
