According to transferexpert Fabrizio Romano, the transfer of Basar Önal to Lille is completed. Romano reported that Basar Önal passed his medical examination on Wednesday afternoon, July 8, and will be presented at Lille soon. The transfer involves a fixed fee of 12.5 million euros and up to 2 million euros in bonuses, which could bring the total transfer fee to 14.5 million euros. Romano reports that this fee is higher than previously expected. A portion of the transfer fee will be paid to De Graafschap, which had secured a resale percentage during the 2024 sale of Önal. Although Önal had previously reached an agreement with Lille, NEC and Lille have now come to an agreement on the transfer.

Önal has already reached a personal agreement with Lille, and the clubs are nearing an agreement. According to De Gelderlander, NEC will receive approximately ten million euros for Önal, although part of that amount will go to De Graafschap, which had negotiated a resale percentage.

NEC and Lille are negotiating a transfer for Başar Önal, a 21-year-old Turkish-Dutch winger. The player, who has been capped for Türkiye at the U21 level, has reached a personal agreement with Lille. The French club, which secured Champions League qualification by finishing third in their league last season, must still finalize an agreement with NEC. In the 2025/2026 Eredivisie season, Önal recorded 7 goals and 8 assists in 29 appearances. Önal, who holds a contract with the Nijmegen club until mid-2028, is expected to cost around seven million euros. NEC paid €1.0 million to sign him from De Graafschap in July 2024. Italian media had also recently linked the player with a move to Fiorentina.
