Grégory Poirier is the new coach of Nantes and formerly managed Red Star. According to reports, Poirier is looking to recruit two of his former players. One of the targets is Balthazar Pierret, a 26-year-old French left-footed defensive midfielder who joined Red Star in January after a year and a half in Italy with Lecce. Pierret played in 18 Ligue 2 matches last season but could not participate in his club's first three games this summer. The transfer window will end in one week, and Red Star could receive an approach from Nantes for two of their players. Several other clubs, including Torino and Sassuolo, have also been linked with the player. His current market value on Transfermarkt is €1.50m. In August 2026, Red Star's asking price for Pierret was reported to be a minimum of €1,000,000. During the same month, rejected offers were reported from Torino for €600,000 and from Sassuolo for €600,000 plus a sell-on clause.
