Universitatea Cluj has secured the permanent transfer of 22-year-old Romanian international central defender Andrei Coubiș. Andrei Coubiș was initially brought on loan from Sampdoria on January 9, 2026. Universitatea Cluj will pay Sampdoria 125,000 euros, a sum that was negotiated at the time of the initial loan, according to gsp.ro. The management of Universitatea Cluj and their Italian counterparts agreed that the purchase clause for Andrei Coubiș would be automatically triggered once the defender reached 12 appearances for the club. In summer, Andrei Coubiș will sign a new three-year contract with Universitatea Cluj. Coubiș has one cap for Romania and his current market value is estimated at €500,000 by Transfermarkt. He moved from AC Milan to Sampdoria in September 2025 for a reported fee of €150,000.
