On 8 August 2024, Andrea Ceresoli was loaned from Atalanta to Catanzaro until 30 June 2025. The deal included a clause stipulating that Atalanta would receive a development bonus of 100,000 euros plus VAT if Ceresoli made fewer than 19 appearances. The defender played seven times in Serie B under coach Fabio Caserta before the loan was terminated on 3 February 2025, and he returned to Atalanta U23 in Serie C. A legal dispute over the bonus clause followed. Lega Serie B initially awarded the bonus to Atalanta, and this decision was upheld by the Tribunale Federale Nazionale in May 2025 following an appeal from Catanzaro. However, the Corte Federale d'Appello overturned the verdict in July, cancelling the bonus. Atalanta then appealed to the Collegio di Garanzia del CONI in September 2025. According to Gazzetta del Sud, the final ruling from the Collegio di Garanzia ordered Atalanta to pay Catanzaro approximately 100,000 euros in compensation for the early termination of the loan.
