Alvis Jaunzems Transfer from Stal Mielec to Lechia Gdańsk
Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl reported that Alvis Jaunzems, a multiple-time representative of Latvia, will strengthen the structures of 'Biało-Zieloni' on a free transfer. He will sign a contract valid until June 30, 2027, with an option for a 12-month extension. The agreement's implementation is contingent on obtaining registration approval for the nearly 26-year-old defender, who can also play as a wing-back. The Licensing Appeals Committee of the PZPN allows individual new players to represent the club from northern Poland, provided that current obligations are settled.
Alvis Jaunzems, a right-back who has represented Latvia 41 times, is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Lechia Gdańsk. His current contract with Stal Mielec is set to expire on June 30. Despite being under a transfer ban, Lechia Gdańsk is attempting to sign him by fulfilling specific financial and budgetary conditions. This information was reported by Maciej Słomiński from Trojmiasto.pl. The relegation of Stal Mielec from the Ekstraklasa is expected to result in the departure of key players, including Jaunzems. In the previous season, Jaunzems scored one goal and provided an assist in 33 league appearances, which attracted the interest of Lechia Gdańsk, who are eager to add him to their squad. Lechia must demonstrate that there are no overdue financial obligations to employees under licensing supervision and that acquiring Jaunzems will not significantly impact their existing budget plans. Furthermore, his potential signing does not preclude the retention of Dominik Piła, as both players are integral to the team's strategy under coach John Carver.
