Aliou Dieng Transfer from Al Ahly to Al Rayyan

According to Africafoot, the Qatari club Al Rayyan is interested in recruiting Aliou Dieng, a 28-year-old Malian defensive midfielder. The club submitted an offer of 650,000 dollars for the player's contract with Al Ahly, which is valid until June 2026. According to the same source, Al Qadsiah and Al Wakrah had previously shown interest in the player. Negotiations between Dieng and Al Ahly for a contract extension have stopped. The player rejected Al Ahly's extension offer, which included a 1.6 million dollar signing bonus and a 100,000 dollar annual increase, because he demanded a larger financial offer. All offers received are below Al Ahly's valuation of the player. Dieng is asking for one million dollars to transfer. Coach Jess Thorup is opposed to a transfer. Africafoot previously reported that Thorup informed the management that transferring Dieng would be a strategic error that would be difficult to compensate for and would negatively impact the team's balance. It is reported that interest from Gulf clubs has increased following Dieng's recent performances, including one in a 4-1 Champions League victory against JS Kabylie. The Malian international has 41 caps and 2 goals for his country. In the current season of the Egyptian Premier League, he has made 11 appearances and provided 1 assist. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €3.00m.
