In September, Aiden O’Neill extended his contract with Standard Luik until 2029. Nevertheless, he is set to move to MLS club New York City. It was reported that the American club had been in negotiations with Standard for a while, and it is said that an agreement has been reached between the clubs. O’Neill had previously joined Standard Luik on a free transfer from Melbourne City in the summer of 2023. Despite facing financial difficulties and O’Neill's market value being 3 million euros, Standard agreed to a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros. O’Neill had reportedly agreed to the transfer some time ago, and with his medical examination completed, he is now awaiting final confirmation before joining the club.

New York City is interested in acquiring Aiden O'Neill before the transfer market in the United States closes. The transfer is expected to bring Standard Liège a sum of 2 to 3 million euros. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market worth at 3.00m euros.
