According to TYC, Independiente has made an offer to Argentinian-Italian centre-back Agustín García Basso. García Basso is a free agent after terminating his contract with Racing. The 34-year-old's agreement with Racing was set to last until the end of 2027 but was terminated because of a breakdown in his relationship with the club's management. In addition to Independiente, three other Argentine clubs are interested in signing the player. Among them is Newell's, who are reportedly in the strongest position to sign him and had previously registered him in anticipation of a deal with Racing that did not occur. It is also understood that Newell's has requested the defender to lower his financial expectations. García Basso is currently considering his options and is expected to decide in the coming days. According to Transfermarkt, the player has a current market value of €300k, and for his last transfer in January 2024, Racing Club reportedly paid €692,000.
