Panathinaikos is reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old Uruguayan forward Agustín Álvarez Martínez, who remains contracted with Sassuolo until the summer of 2027. This interest was highlighted by journalist Fabián Bertolini on the program 'La Manana del Futbol'. The Greek club is considering Álvarez, who has also drawn attention from Monza in Italy, as a potential teammate for Facundo Pellistri. Álvarez, who represents Uruguay internationally, was originally transferred to Sassuolo from Peñarol for 12 million euros, one of the largest transfers for Peñarol alongside Darwin Núñez's move to Almería. Álvarez has appeared in 23 matches for Sassuolo and has had loan periods at Sampdoria and Elche, the latter where he netted nine goals and provided two assists in 40 appearances last season in La Liga 2. Transfermarkt estimates the player's current market value at €4 million.
