According to Index.hr, Adrian Segečić's transfer to Birmingham City did not go through on the last day of the transfer window because the clubs failed to agree on compensation.

Birmingham City have been warned they will have to pay a premium to sign Adrian Segecic from Portsmouth. Segecic is being considered as a candidate to fill the number 10 vacancy in Chris Davies’ squad as the end of the summer transfer window approaches. Portsmouth manager John Mousinho is expecting bids for Segecic. Mousinho told The News that, to his knowledge, the club has not received any bid. He stated that there is no definite interest, but he partially expects some interest to arise before the window closes. The manager also said he would not be surprised by a bid, because goals command a premium and he is certain many clubs would be interested. Portsmouth are unwilling to sell Segecic for a low price and are using some of the Championship’s notable transfers this summer to support their valuation. Mousinho said Portsmouth signed Segecic for a six-figure sum and the potential return would be significant. He added that he understands the player's valuation based on the transfers of other players, noting that some players have been sold for high fees this summer and that Portsmouth rates Segecic very highly.

Birmingham City are planning to make an offer for Portsmouth's 22-year-old Croatian and Australian winger Adrian Segecic. The Blues are expected to propose a fee that Portsmouth would likely consider for the player, who has previously attracted interest from clubs across Europe. Birmingham's move for Segecic comes after they reportedly turned their attention away from American attacking-midfielder Rokas Pukstas, who appears to have been persuaded by Middlesbrough. Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has acknowledged that Segecic's consistency could draw interest, which is now occurring with less than a week remaining in the transfer window. Segecic joined Portsmouth in July 2025 and is under contract until June 2028. The former Croatia U21 international has a current market value of €4.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
