Laola1.at reports that a transfer for Abubakr Barry to the interested English clubs Stoke City and Oxford United is proving difficult because of problems with the registration of foreign players.

Austria Vienna has rejected an offer of more than two million euros for Abubakr Barry from Oxford United, which was relegated to England's League One. Championship club Stoke City has submitted a bid of three million euros for the 25-year-old Gambian midfielder. Barry has previously stated a desire to make a bigger step in his career, and it is expected that he will leave the club this summer. Barry joined Austria Vienna in July 2024 and has a contract that runs until 2027. The midfielder has nine caps for The Gambia and has a current market value of €2.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
