Birmingham City have made an approach to sign Real Oviedo's Spanish goalkeeper Aarón Escandell, whose future is uncertain following the club's relegation from La Liga. Chris Davies' side is described as being very interested in the 30-year-old and has already initiated contact with him. The 30-year-old is also attracting attention from several other clubs. Escandell has less than a year left on his contract, which includes a €5m release clause. Transfermarkt values him at €3m. Real Oviedo are likely to sell the goalkeeper this summer to make a profit, as they signed him for free, and to avoid losing him for no fee when his contract expires. Birmingham City would not struggle to meet the €5m fee; their previous acquisition of Carlos Vicente was for a reported €8m.
