Yannick Carrasco, a 32-year-old Belgian international winger, may leave his Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab this winter, as the team is reportedly facing severe financial problems and is allowing its prominent players to depart. According to AS, clubs from France, Spain, Italy, and Brazil have expressed interest.
One of the interested parties is FC Nantes, who are currently sixteenth in Ligue 1 and are looking to strengthen their squad to avoid being relegated. However, a move is considered unlikely, as Carrasco's reported gross annual salary of €13 million is thought to be unaffordable for the French club, even if the player were to accept a significant pay cut. Carrasco has 78 caps and 11 goals for Belgium. He joined Al-Shabab in September 2023 for a reported €15 million, and his contract runs until June 2027. In the current Saudi Pro League season, he has contributed 5 goals and 1 assist in 10 appearances, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €6.00m.
