It is thought that Tottenham are interested in Celtic's 22-year-old Belgian international midfielder, Arne Engels. Fulham, Roma, and Atletico Madrid are also among several clubs pursuing the player. Nottingham Forest are reportedly leading the pursuit of Engels and are expected to make a new attempt. The club had a £25 million bid for the player rejected in January. It is suggested that only Tottenham and the Spanish outfit may have the financial capability to compete with a potential offer from Forest.
Engels has four caps for Belgium. He scored four goals and provided two assists in 25 Scottish Premiership appearances during the 2025/2026 season. Engels joined Celtic in August 2024 for a fee that was reported to be between €11m and €13m. His contract with the club runs until 2028. In June 2026, Celtic's asking price was reportedly a minimum of €25 million. Some reports suggested it could exceed £25m (~€30m). His current market value on Transfermarkt is €20.00m.
