Tomás Palacios, a 22-year-old Argentine left-footed central defender, is close to joining Estudiantes from Inter. The move is expected to be a 12-month loan that includes a purchase option. The player started his career at Talleres and had a notable loan spell at Independiente Rivadavia. Inter signed him in mid-2024 for €6.5 million and then loaned him to Monza.
Although he also had offers from clubs in Brazil and Mexico, the positive relationship between Juan Sebastián Verón and Inter's vice president, Javier Zanetti, is considered an important factor in the negotiations. Eduardo Domínguez, the manager for Estudiantes, has spoken favorably about the potential transfer, viewing his team as a suitable place for Palacios to relaunch his career. The financial terms of the agreement have not been made public, but according to sources close to both clubs, only the final details remain to be arranged. Palacios has a contract with Inter that runs until June 2029, and he has earned five caps for the Argentina U20 team. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €3.50m.
