Stade Rennes is seeking to sign a creative midfielder and is considering Manchester City's Claudio Echeverri. The 19-year-old Argentine returned to his parent club after an unsuccessful loan at Bayer Leverkusen in the first part of the season. He has made 6 Bundesliga appearances this season without scoring a goal or providing an assist and is expected to be loaned out again in January.
Rennes is aware of the difficulty in securing the Argentine, particularly due to competition from Villarreal and Girona, a club that belongs to the City Football Group. As a result, the French club has also pursued other transfer targets. Echeverri has 12 caps and 6 goals for Argentina's U20 national team and his current Transfermarkt market value is €15.00m. Manchester City initially signed him from River Plate in January 2024 for a fee of €14.5 million. In August 2025, reports detailed AS Roma's negotiations for a loan with a buy-option valued at up to €35 million.
