It is reported that Stade Rennes have added Emmanuel Fernandez, a 24-year-old player from Rangers, to their list of summer targets. Feyenoord, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be monitoring the defender. The Nigeria international has 3 caps for his country and is on a three-player shortlist for the French club, which also includes Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell and Yerson Mosquera of Wolves.
Fernandez moved to Rangers from Peterborough last summer for a fee of around £3.5m, in a deal that is understood to include a significant sell-on percentage. This would likely lead Rangers to demand a high fee. During the 2025/2026 season, he made 27 appearances and scored 5 goals across the Scottish Premiership and its Top Six Split. His current market value on Transfermarkt is €18.00m.
Reports in June 2026 cited a minimum asking price of £25 million, and the club's demands reportedly fluctuated between £20 million and £35 million earlier in the year. Towards the end of last season, the player stated that he was happy where he was and saw himself remaining at the club, noting he still had four years left on his contract.
