The summer transfer window is approaching, and Rangers are already being linked with a number of potential moves, with the latest rumour connecting the club to Moreirense's Gilberto Batista. Our analysis of the past seven days shows the club has been tied to 7 possible arrivals and 5 potential exits. The hottest storyline right now revolves around the future of loanee Mikey Moore. Below are the latest updates on the most important transfer rumours.
Oskar Pietuszewski
On Monday, representatives from Rangers were reportedly present at Porto's 3-0 league victory against Moreirense to evaluate potential signings. Scouts from Sevilla, Alaves, Stuttgart, and St Etienne were also in attendance. The local press in Porto highlighted the performance of 17-year-old Polish winger Oskar Pietuszewski, who scored during the first half. Pietuszewski, who joined Porto in January 2026 and is under contract until May 2029, was noted for his pace and directness. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €12.00m. He has 6 caps and 4 goals for Poland's U21 team. Porto acquired him from Jagiellonia Białystok for a reported €8 million plus €2 million in bonuses, and his contract includes a release clause reported in March 2026 to be €60 million.
Emmanuel Fernandez
According to sources who told Football Insider on Tuesday, West Ham United will not be able to sign Emmanuel Fernandez this summer if they are relegated. The outlet was also told that Rangers manager Danny Rohl plans to keep the centre-back for the long term and the club does not intend to let him leave. These sources indicated that Rangers feel Champions League qualification would provide additional security regarding the defender’s future. This followed a Monday report by Alan Nixon on his Patreon, which stated that West Ham have made in-person checks on Fernandez and that Rangers are prepared to sell him for a suitable price this summer, probably seeking a significant profit on the approximately £3m they paid for him. Also on Monday, Give Me Sport reported that he has become a priority target for the London club, who are monitoring his progress.
Gilberto Batista
Following reports on Wednesday that Rangers scouts were at FC Porto's 3-0 victory over Moreirense, scout and football analyst Kai Watson suggested the club may have been observing several players. Watson identified 22-year-old centre-back Gilberto Batista as a possible target. Batista, who holds both Guinea-Bissau and Portuguese citizenship, joined Moreirense in July 2023 and his contract runs until June 2027. He has made 21 appearances in the Liga Portugal during the 2025/2026 season and has earned 2 caps for Guinea-Bissau. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €400k.
Afonso Assis
On Wednesday, scout and football analyst Kai Watson also suggested that Rangers could have been monitoring Afonso Assis ahead of the summer transfer window. Assis is a 19-year-old Portuguese defensive midfielder. The Portugal U20 international has a contract with Moreirense valid until June 2029 and has made 14 appearances in the 2025/2026 Liga Portugal season.
Mikey Moore
On Saturday, it was reported that Mikey Moore, a loanee from Tottenham Hotspur, has been an excellent loan signing for Rangers since his arrival last summer, having scored five goals and provided two assists in 24 league appearances. It was stated that Rangers will have to let him return to his parent club in the summer. However, a week ago on Tuesday, it was reported that talks have already begun to bring Moore back to Ibrox this summer on a permanent deal, with sources believing the fee is likely to surpass the club's record. According to Team Talk 14 days ago, retaining the youngster is a top priority for Rangers and he is central to their long-term planning. Sources indicated then that Rangers were optimistic about securing Moore’s services beyond the current campaign, likely through an extended loan.
Jens Hjertø-Dahl
On Friday, it was reported that Rangers continue to monitor Tromso midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl. The player decided against a move during the January transfer window and indicated he would have remained at Tromso even if Rangers had increased their interest. According to the Daily Record, Tromso value Dahl at around £8 million. This follows reports from 38 days ago that the midfielder had extended his contract at Tromso, signing a new four-year deal until the summer of 2029.
Bailey Rice
On Thursday, it was reported that Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Sunderland are among a number of clubs monitoring Rangers' Scottish midfielder Bailey Rice. Brighton, West Brom and Cardiff City are also reportedly monitoring the 19-year-old. Rice's future at Ibrox is uncertain as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, making a departure on a free transfer likely. Attempts by Rangers to sign him to a new contract were unsuccessful. The midfielder, who is currently recovering from a significant injury sustained in November, joined Rangers in July 2024 and has 16 caps for the Scotland U19 team.
