Stig Inge Bjornebye, a transfer consultant for Rangers, said that internal discussions regarding the future of Liverpool's Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah have occurred at Ibrox. Bjornebye also stated that although he does not know Salah's specific plans, the player's next destination was discussed at the club.

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool in July 2017 and has announced he will depart on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract at Anfield at the end of June. Potential transfers to Saudi Arabia and the MLS have been suggested for the 33-year-old, and clubs including Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and San Diego have been linked with him. A transfer to Ibrox would require the winger to accept a significant reduction from the high salary he receives at his current club. Salah has earned 113 caps and scored 65 goals for his country. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €30.00m.
