Rangers made an unsuccessful offer for Standard Liege midfielder and Rwandan international Hakim Sahabo, who is now expected to join another club. The Ibrox club's six-figure bid, which was below £866,000, was considered insufficient. An official agreement has been reached for the 20-year-old to move to AEK Athens for a £1.3m fee, meaning a deal similar to the previous transfer of Nicolas Raskin from Liege will not be repeated.
Sahabo joined Standard Liège in January 2024 and has made 14 league appearances this season. The midfielder has nine caps for Rwanda, a contract with the Belgian club until June 2026, and a Transfermarkt market value of €1.50m. According to reports in January 2026, the agreed fee was between €1 million and €2 million. In November 2025, the asking price was reported to be between €6 million and €7 million.
