In Italy, Bologna have been monitoring Rangers' 22-year-old South African centre-back, Olwethu Makhanya. He has also attracted attention from England, with Brentford and Sunderland among the interested clubs. Both of those teams sent representatives to watch the defender in a recent match. Furthermore, Sevilla are among a number of La Liga clubs monitoring Makhanya. A top scout from LaLiga has stated that Spanish sides believe his profile is a good fit for the league.

Rangers are reportedly in a strong position as the player has a long-term contract, and the club feels no immediate pressure to sell. A significant move is considered more realistic next summer. Makhanya, who has been capped four times for South Africa, joined the Scottish club from Philadelphia Union in July 2026 for a fee of €3.6 million. His current Transfermarkt market value is €8.00m.
