Panathinaikos has been interested in Brentford's Mathias Jensen for several months. The Greek club has been closely monitoring the 30-year-old Danish international midfielder since last December as his contract in England is finishing, although his club has an option to renew it.
Panathinaikos remains hopeful about the transfer, as Jensen is seen as a player who could improve the quality of their midfield, particularly for the modern, attacking style of play that new coach Jakob Nistrup wants to implement. The midfielder, who has 31 caps and one goal for Denmark, joined Brentford in July 2019 and has a current market value of €12.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
