Several Saudi clubs made offers to Watford for 20-year-old Moroccan winger Othmane Maamma, with financial terms that were particularly attractive to the English club's management. Al Ittihad was the first to make an offer, having made the signing of a Moroccan player a priority. Watford, which had no initial intention of selling its player, gave a preliminary agreement in principle due to the proposed financial conditions. Al Qadsiah later also made an offer that was even more attractive to Watford. Despite these offers, Othmane Maamma refused a move to Saudi Arabia, preferring to continue his career in Europe to prioritize his sporting development over financial considerations.
He joined Watford in July 2025 and his contract runs until 2029. According to Transfermarkt, the player has a current market value of €8.00m. He has also been linked with Porto and Bologna. Recent reports from August 2026 suggested a €10 million bid could be accepted for the player, while in February 2026 Watford reportedly rejected offers from Nantes (€5 million) and Lille (€8 million).
