SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, who holds Nigerian citizenship, has rejected an approach from Coventry City. The 24-year-old has also reportedly rejected Premier League newcomers Hull City, as the former German youth international is reportedly more interested in other English clubs. AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and an unnamed top club from England are still reportedly contending to sign him.

Atubolu is expected to be sold, with one year left on his contract, because he is not considered part of Freiburg's future plans following the arrival of Mio Backhaus, and a transfer fee of €20 million is under discussion. To avoid jeopardizing a move, the player asked Freiburg to be omitted from their training camp in Austria. According to Transfermarkt, the uncapped German international has a current market value of €25 million, while reports from early 2026 stated Freiburg's asking price was as high as €30 million.
