Newcastle has added Marseille's 31-year-old midfielder, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, to their shortlist. Newcastle is seeking to add stability and strength to their midfield and consider the Danish international an ideal candidate, partly due to his previous Premier League experience with Southampton and Tottenham, which would make him immediately operational.
According to 'nos sources', the matter is being directly handled by Newcastle's sporting director, Ross Wilson, who is working to compensate for the imminent departure of Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal. Marseille, which needs to reduce its wage bill due to financial constraints, would allow Højbjerg to leave if a satisfactory offer is submitted.
