Middlesbrough and their Championship rivals Southampton are reportedly interested in a summer transfer for Hibernian's Scottish central midfielder, Josh Mulligan. Recently relegated West Ham United are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Middlesbrough are interested in him as they seek potential replacements for their midfield players, and are resigned to losing Hayden Hackney, who is in discussions about a transfer to Everton. Josh Mulligan joined Hibernian on a free transfer in July 2025, has a contract with the club until May 2029, and has 14 caps for the Scotland U21 team. During the 2025/2026 season, he contributed one goal and five assists in 22 Scottish Premiership appearances. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €3.00m. A reported offer of £1.9 million from Schalke was rejected in January 2026.
