English centre-forward Jamie Vardy has been linked with Rangers again as he prepares to become a free agent for a second time following the relegation of his club, Cremonese, from Serie A. Ally McCoist dismissed the prospect of a move, explaining that he was happy with the recent signing of Lawrence Shankland and wanted to give Youssef Chermiti another year. Jeff Stelling challenged this view, arguing that Vardy would surely be an upgrade on Chermiti. However, McCoist remained unconvinced, citing the forward's age of 39 and expressing his confidence in the partnership of Shankland and Chermiti.
Rangers, along with Wrexham, were also rumoured to be interested in Vardy before he joined the Italian club in September 2025. The former England international has 26 caps and 7 goals for his country. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.00m.
