Mauro Icardi's agent, Elio Letterio Pino, has confirmed the Argentine-Italian striker will not return to Argentine football. Icardi is 33 years old and will be a free agent after four seasons with Galatasaray. He had been linked with several clubs, including Racing Club, due to his past as a teammate of Diego Milito at Inter, and Newell's, where he played in the youth divisions. River was also mentioned as an interested party.

However, Pino stated that they have never talked with anyone from these clubs and questioned why they had been mentioned for the last three months. Pino also asserted that Icardi is not interested in playing in Argentina, described it as an option they are not considering, and said he hoped the media discussion would stop.

In the 2025/2026 Süper Lig season, Icardi made 31 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 1 assist. The forward has 8 caps and 1 goal for Argentina and a current market value of €4.00m according to Transfermarkt.
