Marseille keen to make Matt O'Riley loan permanent

The Danish midfielder's loan transfer could become a permanent move.

The 25-year-old Danish midfielder Matt O'Riley joined Olympique Marseille on a season-long loan from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, with the deal containing no obligation to buy. Before his move to France in September, he was heavily linked with Serie A's AS Roma after Gian Piero Gasperini had previously attempted to sign him for Atalanta. It was reported in France and Italy last month that Marseille are now keen to make his loan move permanent.

His former club Celtic are interested in the situation, as they inserted a 10 per cent sell-on clause into the £25 million deal that took him to Brighton. This season in Ligue 1, O'Riley has made 13 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He has been capped six times by Denmark. His current Transfermarkt market value is €20.00m.
