Liverpool wants to sign a midfielder in the summer with characteristics similar to Dominik Szoboszlai and has made Caleb Yirenkyi its top target. Yirenkyi is a 20-year-old Ghanaian international with eight caps who currently plays for Nordsjaelland, which he joined in February 2025. In 18 Superliga games this season, he has scored two goals and provided five assists.
According to reports, Liverpool scouts believe the versatile midfielder, who has previously played as a central defender, is capable of performing at a Premier League level in the right-back position. It is said that the club made an unsuccessful attempt to sign him in January. It is also expected that their scouts will be present at every Nordsjaelland match in the spring to thoroughly assess him. Other clubs such as Galatasaray, Brighton, and Manchester United have also been linked with the player. He is under contract until June 2030 and valued by Transfermarkt at six million euros. In February 2026, reports stated Nordsjælland rejected an €18 million bid from an English club. This followed reports in January 2026 that the club's asking price was approximately €20 million.
