A permanent move to Ipswich Town is being arranged for the 22-year-old Paraguayan attacker Julio Enciso. This is despite an expectation that his transfer to Strasbourg was an initial step before a later move to Chelsea, a route also taken by Valentin Barco. The transfer, which would remove Enciso from the BlueCo group of clubs, is considered increasingly probable, although it is understood that there is still more to be done. Enciso had a successful loan spell at Ipswich during the second half of the 2024-25 season.
It is recognised that he has a strong relationship with head coach Gary O’Neil, who also transferred from Strasbourg to the Premier League club. It is understood that Albion secured a sell-on clause when they sold the forward to Strasbourg for less than £20 million last summer. Enciso's contract with the French club is valid until 2029, and he has earned 37 caps and scored 5 goals for Paraguay. During the 2025/2026 Ligue 1 season, he made 27 appearances, in which he scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists.
Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €25 million. Galatasaray has also been associated with a potential move for the player. The club reportedly made an offer in August 2026 for a €5 million loan that included a €15 million mandatory purchase option. Separately, reports from July 2026 suggested that Strasbourg's asking price was between €25 million and €35 million.
