Flamengo is evaluating the signing of Danilo, a 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder who joined Botafogo in July 2025 from Nottingham Forest and is a multi-champion from his time at Palmeiras. According to information first reported by Raisa Simplício and confirmed by ESPN, the interest is in its initial phase, with the club monitoring Danilo for a potential future move. Flamengo is seeking a midfielder who can play in multiple roles due to uncertainties regarding that position and a calendar with many fixtures in 2026. To date, no official offer has been presented to Botafogo or the player's representatives, as Flamengo is also monitoring other players.
A potential negotiation could be facilitated by Botafogo's current situation, as the club is dealing with financial problems and a transfer ban that prevents new player registrations. In an interview with Ge, Botafogo executive Alessandro Brito admitted the club needs to sell players. Danilo's contract runs until June 2029 and his current Transfermarkt market value is €22 million. Zenit has also shown interest in the player. Botafogo reportedly rejected a €30 million offer from Fulham in September 2025, having signed him for a €23 million fee in July 2025.
