Everton are reportedly close to agreeing terms for 22-year-old Belgian midfielder Arne Engels from the Scottish Premiership champions. His departure could be part of a combined £45m move to the Premier League that also includes his teammate Alistair Johnston. The potential exits of both players have reportedly made their current club determined to reject any transfer approaches for another player, Kieran Tierney.

The Belgian international, who has four caps for his country, scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 55 appearances in the Scottish Premiership during the 2025/2026 season. His contract with the Scottish club is due to expire in 2028. Several other Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Nottingham Forest, have also been linked with the player. In summer 2026, Celtic's asking price was reportedly around €30 million. Nottingham Forest had an offer of that value rejected in January 2026. Engels joined Celtic in August 2024 from FC Augsburg for a reported €11 million.
