Derby County are now leading the effort to sign Vancouver Whitecaps player Sebastian Berhalter. The 24-year-old, who was born in London and is a USA international with 11 caps and one goal, has a contract that expires at the end of 2026. The MLS side is expected to ask for a fee between €5m and €10m (£4m - £9m) for the midfielder, who joined the club in February 2022 and has scored two goals and provided two assists in five league appearances this season.

Reporter Ben Steiner has described him as the second-best set-piece taker in the MLS. The Rams have reportedly shown specific interest and have already made an approach through intermediaries, though they may face competition from Championship rivals Watford and Norwich City. His current Transfermarkt market value is €5.00m.
