Dennis Geiger is close to completing a permanent transfer from Hoffenheim to NEC, where he will be reunited with trainer Dick Schreuder, who was an assistant coach at the German club in the 2019/20 season. Geiger, a 28-year-old German midfielder, has not played since May 17 due to an injury which is not yet healed.
Despite this, the Hoffenheim youth product, who spent last season on loan at Aberdeen, has traveled to Nijmegen to finalize his transfer and will undergo a medical examination on Friday. A two-season contract is prepared for him, and if there are no complications in the final phase, Geiger will leave Hoffenheim for the first time since 2009. His contract at Hoffenheim was due to expire on June 30, 2027. Geiger has 5 caps for the Germany U21 national team, and his current market value is €1.00m.
