Daizen Maeda, who contributed to Celtic's title win by scoring goals in the final five games of the season, has expressed a desire to move to the Premier League. The 28-year-old Japanese international joined Celtic in July 2022. He stated that playing in the English top flight has always been his goal and that he wants to advance his career. He also stated his gratitude to Celtic but believes he can still improve and wants to play at a higher level, noting that the Premier League has been a dream of his since childhood. The forward has 27 caps and has scored 4 goals for Japan.

Having played 211 games for the Scottish club, it has been suggested that newly-promoted Premier League clubs Coventry City and Ipswich Town should consider signing him. Nottingham Forest and VfL Wolfsburg have also been linked with the player. Maeda's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027. It is thought that a fee below his market value could be agreed with Celtic for the player, who is described as versatile. His current market value on Transfermarkt is €12.00m. In mid-2025, Celtic's asking price was reported to be as high as £25 million, while reports from late 2025 and early 2026 suggested figures between €12 million and €17 million.
