Anan Khalaili's father, Majdi, confirmed that Crystal Palace was one of several clubs interested in the 21-year-old Israeli midfielder in the weeks before his transfer to Inter. He also stated that Newcastle, Ipswich, Cagliari, Atalanta, and Napoli made inquiries. According to Majdi, Napoli submitted the first official offer, which was significantly lower than the Belgian club's asking price. Reports indicated Ipswich was willing to offer 30 million euros.

Anan Khalaili joined Union Saint-Gilloise in July 2024 and has a contract until June 2028. He has 16 caps for Israel. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €23.00m. In May-June 2026, reports stated that Napoli's rejected bid was €15 million and that Union's asking price was €25 million. More recent reports from July 2026 stated that Union's asking price had increased to €30 million. These reports also indicated that Inter Milan offered €23 million plus bonuses and that Como submitted a loan offer that included a €27 million obligation to buy.
