The opportunity to sign 26-year-old English right-back Djed Spence was offered to several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Everton. Although there was interest, no deal was completed because Tottenham's initial valuation of around £45 million was deemed too high.
Talks with Inter Milan have since advanced quickly, and Spence is reportedly prioritising a move to the Italian club. An agreement is now close, according to TEAMtalk, after Tottenham accepted a fee of €30 million (£26m), which was the highest amount Inter were prepared to spend. The negotiations are said to have been helped by strong communication established between the two clubs during prior discussions concerning Cristian Romero. Spence has 14 caps for England, joined Tottenham in July 2022, and has a contract that runs until 2029. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €40.00m.
