German U21 international winger Brajan Gruda, who is 21, has joined RB Leipzig on a Deadline Day loan from the English club Brighton & Hove Albion. The loan is until the end of the season and does not include an option to buy. The former Mainz player had moved to Brighton in the summer of 2024 for €31.5 million. This season, Gruda has made 18 Premier League appearances for Brighton, contributing one goal and one assist. For the Germany U21 team, he has earned 19 caps and scored 3 goals. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €28.00m.
Sporting managing director Marcel Schäfer stated that the club was immediately enthusiastic when the opportunity to loan Gruda arose. Schäfer added that they have been monitoring him for several years and had wanted to bring him to Leipzig in 2024. For this reason, Schäfer said they are very happy now, even though it is initially a loan. Gruda will be given the number 10 shirt. He confirmed that there had been repeated contact with RB Leipzig in the past, which he said gave him a good feeling and showed that the club's officials were convinced by him and truly wanted him in the team.
