Vincenzo Italiano's Beşiktaş is considering Napoli's 29-year-old Italian goalkeeper, Alex Meret. Meret had consistently been the starting goalkeeper until this year, when he lost significant playing time to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, making 11 appearances in Serie A during the 2025/2026 season. His future reportedly depends on a decision by Allegri, who will evaluate during training camp whom to name as the starting goalkeeper.

Speaking to TuttomercatoWeb a few weeks ago, Meret's agent, Federico Pastorello, stated that it will be necessary to understand the new coach's plans. Pastorello mentioned that Meret had previous opportunities to leave but wanted to remain with the club. He added that while the current situation can be accepted for a single season, it is regrettable that a goalkeeper like Meret is not being used and that it cannot become a permanent solution. The three-time Italy international has a contract until 2027, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €8.00m. In addition to Beşiktaş, clubs such as Real Sociedad, Fenerbahçe, and Juventus have also reportedly been interested in the goalkeeper.
