German club Bayer and Italian side Napoli have both shown interest in Botafogo's Brazilian midfielder Danilo, with both clubs having made inquiries about the 24-year-old footballer. Zenit had also made an offer for Danilo, but the midfielder did not show interest in moving to the Russian club.

ESPN had previously reported that Zenit was prepared to pay a €13 million transfer fee and also to write off a €12 million debt that Botafogo had from a prior deal. The Brazilian international, capped twice for his country, is under contract with Botafogo until June 2029 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €24.00m. In April 2026, other reports indicated Zenit made a formal offer of around €25 million, while Botafogo's asking price was cited as being between €30 million and €40 million.
